Clara is a sustainability strategist and designer with an expertise in the social and environmental impacts of the fashion and textile industry. She has worked and researched different parts of the industry, from designing to finding out about the supply chain in China. Her ted talk is full of information and tips on how we can become more sustainable with the clothes we wear, often looking back to her past experiences as examples.
Lucy Siegel is a journalist and writer on environmental issues. I found her ted talk particularly inspiring because she says herself that she has bought too much clothes in the past. She touches on her work with The Green Carpet Challenge too. It’s worth watching just for the story about the girl who left her Primark clothes in the rain!
Tamara Jones is a student at Ryerson University with passions for environmental sustainability and social justice. She champions buying less and shopping mindfully with some great tips in her talk. Also she made the skirt she is wearing, using a youtube video for guidelines!
Jennifer L.Scott is a contributing writer and has also written her own books. Her ted talk is about how owning less clothes works better for her. She explains how she went to stay with a french family in 2001. She noticed French people owned far less clothes than the Americans but they were of a higher quality.
Maxine Bédat was the co-founder and CEO of Zady. A slow fashion brand that unfortunately is no longer trading. Her ted talk is brilliant for showing the negatives of polyester clothing. Have you noticed that you have been getting more sweaty recently?! She is a former fast fashion shopper herself and talks about how she changed her habits. Along with info about the environmental and social impacts of fast fashion.
