Autumn Capsule Wardrobe 2018 – Revisited

How did I do this autumn?

There comes a time in the year when I start reaching for the thickest pieces in my autumn capsule wardrobe. And I realise winter is coming! It varies every year but, by December in Amsterdam, it’s usually getting cold. Before I swap out my clothes for winter I always take a moment to consider how the autumn capsule has done. In terms of how the clothes worked together, how many of them I wore and what I will do differently next time. If you want to see all the pieces in my capsule you can find them here.

The Good Points

  1. I felt like I had enough variation of clothes. In my summer capsule roundup, I talked about having too many clothes specifically skirts. I didn’t have that feeling this time.
  2. I was able to dress for the vast temperature differences. At the start of Autumn, the temperature in Amsterdam was really hot. We had a really cold spell too! It’s kind of in the middle now and I have felt comfortable enough in all my clothing options. The trick is layering!
  3. I’m still finding new ways to style up my clothes. I’m currently wearing the long read and black wrap dress with the blue top with the stars on underneath and a pair of black tights with the low black boots. See the clothes I’m talking about here. I’ve had this top for years and can’t believe I’m still finding new ways to wear it!
  4. I wore all the new pieces that I bought. Especially the wool coat as you can tell from the pictures!
  5. As the weather gets colder, I tend to start dressing in jeans and jumpers every day. I think the capsule stopped me getting into a cold weather rut. Mainly due to the fact it seemed ridiculous to sort out all the clothes to only then wear jumpers and jeans!

The Not So Good

  1. I mean this isn’t a problem as such, but when I wear jeans, I always gravitate to the same few pairs. I’m pretty sure I didn’t wear the grey pair at all, Except for one day to check if they fit. I liked how they looked but still never reached for them. Is it time to let them go?
  2. Because the weather was so hot at the start of autumn and cold shortly after, I didn’t get much wear out of my denim jacket or light green coat. I went from no jacket to the thicker ones within a week!

In conclusion, I’m pretty happy with how this autumn capsule went! I did have a trip to Boston and New York and bought a few new things so I will talk about them when I show you the winter capsule wardrobe, there are some sneak peeks in the images below.
