A Small Glimpse Into Haute Couture

And The Beauty Of Handmade Clothes! Let’s face it, haute couture is a step above the average wage bracket. Most of us can only dream of a custom-made wedding dress or red carpet moment. The work that goes into these pieces is phenomenal; they indeed are works of art. For those of us that don’t have experience in fashion design,  the process of making a garment can be overwhelming. And it drives home how much work goes into making our clothing. And why we should treat it with respect and make it last.

Haute couture clothing takes a tremendous amount of effort, but it takes a lot of energy to produce all clothing. Often it is sold cheap but this likely means someone down the garment chain didn’t get paid a fair wage. The rise of fast fashion means we are disconnected from our clothing and expect to buy able to buy it at rock bottom prices.

I’ve picked out five YouTube videos that talk in some way or another about the process of couture. Most of them are quite short, but they all show how much effort is put into producing a garment and why clothing should be respected. Watching these clips makes me appreciate the small details of clothing. Especially if I ever shop for new clothes.
