Capsule Wardrobe

I try to remain sanguine about winter and see the beauty in the frosty mornings and shorter days. A winter capsule wardrobe helps with this. Mainly because I can no longer see my summer clothes, they are hibernating under the bed, waiting for the warmer temperatures. Warm jumpers, jeans and boots have a certain charm about them. I’m thankful for the seasonal changes.

My coat collection is one of my biggest winter joys. Most of them have been bought new (with the exception of the white and black one.) They weren’t particularly sustainably made either. However, I take good care of them and this means I can take them out year after year, and they look as good as new. Moreover, I try to buy classic colours and shapes to ensure longevity.

I’ve also built up a substantial boot collection, and I’m always on the lookout for secondhand boots. The green suede knee-high boots are my latest purchase from Oxfam. The gold boots were also bought secondhand; I mention them because I always get asked about them! However my most worn are the short black pair. I bought them from Everlane a few years ago.

Compiling a capsule wardrobe makes the mornings easier. It’s especially useful for that cold dark early starts when my inspiration is often at it’s lowest. It’s not as carefree as the summertime; throw on a dress and out the door. But pretty close!

Below is a video showing my winter capsule wardrobe this year in its entirety.
