A Ribbon As A Belt: Reuse What You Already Have

Fancy…January isn’t always pretty. I find myself reaching for the same jeans and top outfit day after day. It’s too much effort to try anything else on the cold dark mornings. However, in an attempt to combat the sameness, I pulled out an old piece of ribbon and used it as a belt. The ribbon itself is leftover from a gift I received ages ago. I’ve worn it before in my hair and around my wrist, but I think I prefer it as a belt.

I usually keep all the ribbons I receive as part of any packaging. It’s surprising how useful they are. And even if the thought of wearing a ribbon makes your skin crawl, they can be reused as gift wrapping for birthdays and Christmas. I might try and wear a ribbon as a choker next in a throwback to my circa 90’s party look..

Combined with a red lip, my outfit has the feeling of new while everything is, in fact, pretty old. The top and jeans are seasons old, as is the ribbon. (See my winter capsule wardrobe here.) And it only took a few seconds to put together. So take that January blues!
