A Summer capsule…Or Lack Of..

Summer 2020summer capsule wardrobeI always feel doubt getting dressed in the morning in the summer. It all seems too effortless. A little too easy.

I suit the summer, the beachy hair and less makeup make me look and feel a lot healthier. If I do the same thing in winter, I feel like a mess. I grew up in a draughty corner of Scotland where beachy hair and the linen dresses I wear would look out of place. My family tree is Scottish as far back as I can see, and yet I crave sunshine more than my ancestors seemed to!

This year –  as you can maybe figure out from the title of this post – I haven’t made the same effort when it comes to a summer capsule wardrobe. I had a big clean out in spring and didn’t need to change up much for summer. I’ve added more summer dresses in and stored boots, coats and jeans. Maybe I sorted through my clothes for spring too late this year. I spent so much time at home this spring, I’d rather leave the house now instead of sorting out my wardrobe! Anyway, summer is a time for forgiving yourself. If I’m happy with my clothes, it seems almost bothersome to pull everything out just for the sake of it.

The dress I’m wearing in the photo is new, it a midi-length wrap dress in a cute print. It’s not sustainably made as such, but I love the cut and know I’ll get lots of wear out of it. It’s an easy to wear dress that I can throw on when the sun is shining outside.

In summer I think I wear a smaller amount of clothes more often. However, the weather is sporadic this year, so I’ve been changing it up more. I’d love to live in a place where the weather was the same every day, to see how often I’d wear the same thing. It would have to be somewhere warm though. If anyone knows of this magical place, answers on a postcard, please!
