Moving week!
At the start of the year, I decided to keep a log of the outfits I was wearing. This week I moved house, actually moved country – so it was therapeutic to take a moment to photograph what I was wearing. I had a million things to think about this week and there is no way I would have remembered what I had worn without these photographs! Most of the clothes are from my winter capsule wardrobe unless otherwise noted.
The first outfit (above) features a secondhand silk dress that I picked up in Oxfam. The dress is quite fancy and I rarely wear it without something over the top. It is made by J Crew and is a nice heavy silk fabric and together with the dark colour is perfect for winter layering.
This was the day before I moved house so essentially the first thing I found in the morning that was practical for lifting boxes. The jumper is made from cotton and is really old but has held up well.
This was moving day and I’m wearing the same jeans again. I’ve gone for comfort and warmth here. We also had a six-hour car journey so I wanted an outfit that I could sit in for hours.
Our first day in Berlin and I was shattered but made more of an effort. Although I did consider wearing those jeans again! The skirt is a secondhand find from Oxfam that had never been worn. It had sale tags on it and was super reduced before eventually given to charity. The sizing was way off so that probably put customers off buying it. I bought it big and had it altered to fit. It was originally from Hobbs and is made from silk with pink sequins.
These trousers are not part of the winter capsule post that I showed you last week as they had to be altered. Thankfully my kind husband took them for me just before we moved. They are secondhand and I found them in Oxfam, are you sensing a theme?! I had to get quite a lot taken off the length, both because of my height and I wanted them to sit shorter on the leg.
My husband cleaned out his wardrobe before moving and I managed to get this shirt out of it. It’s lovely thick cotton and I’m looking forward to styling it lots of different ways. It is very oversized on me, especially on the shoulders but I like that look.
I’ve styled up the coat a little differently, this would also work with any other belt too. I’ve worn this coat a lot over autumn and winter and it’s nice to mix it up a bit now and then!
