Get your knitting needles out!
In an attempt to occupy myself the past few months, I’ve taken up knitting again. A pastime that didn’t need mental stamina once I got into the swing of it. Saying that sometimes the hardest part is choosing the pattern, to begin with. I mean, it has to be something I want to wear! I love these five modern, whimsical Nordic designs. They would look so beautiful in any colour. They could easily be worn throughout the year, too, depending on where you live.
I’ve listed handmade sweater designs before, see sustainable sweater brands, wool jumpers and yak wool sweaters. But they can be pricey; in fact, they should be as there is a lot of work going into them! Do it yourself is cheaper, most of these pretty sweater patterns cost very little. It’s up to you to source wool, although most patterns will share tips on the type of yarn to buy.
I’m not going to pretend I’m a master knitter; to be honest, YouTube is my friend. Make sure and read the knitting pattern notes before you buy, they usually say if they are suitable for beginners or the more advanced creative. Another plus is making clothes yourself can take the guessing element out of who actually made them. If they were paid a living wage and if they worked in suitable conditions. Make sure and source wool that has been produced ethically too!
Click through each image to get to the pattern, and most are available in a few languages, although I’ve linked to the English versions. For crochet bag patterns, try Basket Bags – The Favourites.
