I come from a family where it was reasonable to iron absolutely everything that we ever wore. Underwear, socks, you name it, we ironed everything. Even the bedsheets were meticulously pressed after every wash. My mum went through ironing board covers at a rate of knots! So you can imagine we didn’t often wear linen. With its perfectly creased feel, it’s not the best fabric for someone who loves the straight, neat look.
In recent years, I still iron a lot of my clothes. Not socks, sorry, mum! However, I’ve come to appreciate the beauty of slightly crumpled linen. So much so that my house is full of it. With an increasing number of towels, napkins, bed sheets and clothes being linen. It’s hardwearing and yet can still look feminine. It can be dyed in the most beautiful colours and still looks pretty in its original colour. A winner in both winter and summer with its ability to keep me both warm and cool at the same time.
This linen blouse is so comfortable to wear. And even though I couldn’t bring myself to wear a crumpled cotton or silk shirt, I enjoy the casual vibe of the linen. It pairs well with my other clothes. I’m wearing it with a skirt here, and I also wear it with shorts or jeans depending on the weather.
I’ll be wearing this top all summer long, just like I did last year.
I’m also a fan of linen dresses with spring, summer and winter options for all the seasons.
